Charity golf tournaments on BetLoopr
Run the whole field from one sheet: the roster, the groups, the shotgun, the contests and a live leaderboard every player can see.
Built for the way charity events actually run
A charity scramble is 100-plus players who signed up through a committee, a course that hands you a tee sheet the night before, a shotgun start, a few hole contests with donated prizes, and a clubhouse that wants a winner announced before the auction.
BetLoopr runs that day from the organizer's laptop and the players' phones. Nothing to install: players open a link or scan a QR code at registration.
What you get on the day
Your tee sheet, imported as sent
Drop the course's Excel file, a CSV, or cells pasted from a spreadsheet. BetLoopr reads a row per player with a group column, blocks of names under "Group 4", a row per foursome, or a singles list, keeps groups exactly as the sheet lists them, and shows you who is with whom before anything is created. Names in bold become each group's scorer.
Shotgun or tee times
One start time with a starting hole per group, including A and B groups on the same hole, or ordinary tee times. Each group's card opens on its own starting hole and walks the course in the order they play it. The join page, the lobby and every card show the group's hole and time.
Teams the committee can live with
Foursomes that signed up together stay together. Lock a team, move it up or down the sheet, allow a five-some, or redraw the leftovers.
One live leaderboard across the field
As each scorer taps in a hole, every phone in the tournament, and the organizer's laptop, shows the same board, with tied places shown as ties. Net or gross, or no handicaps at all.
Hole contests the whole field plays
Closest to the pin, longest drive measured by GPS, and longest putt, paced off and entered at the hole. Leaders update live and the field hears about a new leader on their phones.
A printable sign with the QR code
One code for the whole event: print the sign for the registration table and players scan it, find their name, and they're in. Rosters over a dozen get a "Find your name" search.
The organizer sees everything
A command centre on the laptop shows every group's card at once, so you can enter a score for a group whose scorer is stuck, and a co-organizer at the course can do the same from a phone.
Finish on your schedule
When the last groups are in, tap Finalize. If a group never kept score, finalize as it stands: finished teams are ranked, unfinished ones listed by holes played. Then share the results card or email it to everyone.
Five steps, the night before
- 1
Set up a round → A tournament
Pick the course, the date and the format (usually Scramble), and turn handicaps off if the event doesn't use them.
- 2
Players → Upload your tee sheet
Answer the questions the import asks: keep the groups as listed, which names are scorers, whether to email invites now.
- 3
Teams
Lock, move, allow five, redraw. Turn on Shotgun and set the time; starting holes come from the sheet or from the course.
- 4
Side games
Pick the holes for closest to the pin, longest drive and longest putt. Add the pot if the event has one.
- 5
Create, then print the sign
Share the link ahead of the day; put the sign at registration.
Set-up takes an evening the first time. Players don't need an account to be on the roster or the leaderboard; whoever keeps each group's card signs in on their phone, with Google or email.
Money, if there is any
Most charity events keep the money off the app, and that's fine: BetLoopr runs the scoring and contests while buy-ins and prizes are handled at the table. If you do run a pot or paid contests, BetLoopr works out who won what, to the cent. BetLoopr never holds or moves money.
In the works
More printables for the day — hole sponsor signs, contest markers and a results board for the clubhouse. Today the sign is the QR join sheet; if your event needs something specific, email hello@betloopr.com.
Questions
Ask Looper
How a game is scored, how the money settles, how to set something up. Answers come from these pages.
Can BetLoopr run a 100-player charity scramble?
Yes. BetLoopr has run 100-plus player, 25-plus team shotgun scramble tournaments with closest-to-the-pin, longest drive and longest putt contests across the field, on one live leaderboard.
Do players need the app?
No. There's nothing to install; BetLoopr runs in the phone's browser. Only the scorer in each group signs in.
Can we import the course's sheet?
Yes, Excel (.xlsx), CSV or pasted cells, including sheets that already show the groups.
How does the shotgun work?
One start time, a starting hole per group (with A/B groups where the course doubles up). Each group's scorecard opens on its own hole.
